Over Turkey

Turkey carries out the splits on the borders of Europe and Asia.
She has a base of 780,580 km². The capital of Turkey is Ankara with approx. 5 million inhabitants. However, cultural and economic center is Istanbul with more than 13 million inhabitants where also even today the nicest Hamam-bäder are to be found. The land borders in the east on Georgia, Armenia, Iran and Iraq, Syria and on the Mediterranean Sea in the south. The Ägäische sea, Greece and Bulgaria in the west, the Black Sea forms the border to the north. The geographic coordinates of Turkey are 36° 00 to 42° 00 latitude North and 26° 00 to 45° 00 longitudes east.

Turkey with her 81 provinces is divided into 7 geographic regions:

• The Black Sea Region
• The Marmara Region
• The Agäische Region
• The Mediterranean Sea Region
• Centrally Anatolia
• East Anatolia and Southeast Anatolia

About 3% of Turkey lies in Thrace on continent. Remaining 97% which lie on continent are better known than Anatolia. Turkey by her rectangle-like form is about 550 kms wide and 1,500 kms long. In Turkey live nowadays approx. 84 million inhabitants, on it 78% of Turks and 20% of Turks of Kurdish descent, 1.4% of Arabs, Armenians and Jews. 99% of Turkey are Muslims - by the majority Sunniten, but 20 millions are a trailer alevitischen heterodoxen alignment of Islam.
